Hydrangea
Plant of the Month - July 2016
Hydrangeas are a wonderful addition to the landscape. They come in so many varieties and sizes and are very versatile. Hydrangeas get their name from the Greek word  'Hydra' meaning water and 'Angos' meaning vase. This roughly translates to 'Water Barrel' and refers to a hydrangeas need for plenty of water. Most Hydrangeas start to bloom in June/July and will hold their flowers into the fall months. They like part shade, but the peniculata varieties will tolerate sun as long as they are watered well.
